Sandy West – Arkansas A+ Fellow
Sandy West is a dedicated educator and Arkansas A+ Fellow with over 31 years of classroom experience, specializing in math and science instruction. Her approach to education is grounded in the belief that every child can learn—and that true growth happens when students are respected for their uniqueness, engaged with joy, and empowered to express themselves creatively.
Throughout her career, Sandy has championed the integration of the arts as a vital part of teaching and learning. She views creativity as both the ability to think outside the box and the courage to turn mistakes into something meaningful. Her use of the A+ Essentials brings excitement and deeper engagement into the classroom, creating an environment where students thrive.
Sandy’s teaching philosophy centers on learning from each student and helping them discover something new about themselves. Known for fostering trust and collaboration, she opens doors for both students and fellow educators to find joy and purpose in their work.
One of her favorite affirmations comes from a former student who said, “If school were like this every day, I would never again miss school.” That sentiment continues to inspire her mission: making learning meaningful, memorable, and full of joy.
