Self-portrait of Chrissy Callaway

Chrissy Callaway – Arkansas A+ Fellow
Chrissy Callaway is a passionate mathematics educator who dedicated over 40 years to teaching and inspiring a love of math in students. With 30 of those years focused specifically on mathematics instruction, Chrissy believes that discovering and playing with math are two of the greatest joys in life. Her guiding philosophy: “Play is the best teaching and learning tool.”

As a former College Board mathematics consultant and educational leader, she brought innovation and enthusiasm to classrooms across the state and nation. Chrissy also served as a leader in videotaped lessons, modeling engaging and student-centered instruction.

Since retiring in 2016, she continues to share her expertise and joy for teaching through her involvement with Arkansas A+, where she promotes creative, whole-child learning. She believes Arkansas A+ provides a platform for thoughtful, engaging instruction that empowers educators to reach every learner through the arts.

To her, creativity means being unapologetically yourself—“Be what you is, because if you be what you ain’t… then you ain’t what you is.” Her legacy is rooted in making math fun, memorable, and meaningful for generations of learners.
