Tammy McKissic – Arkansas A+ Fellow

Tammy McKissic is a passionate educator and arts integration specialist with over two decades of experience in Arkansas and Louisiana empowering students through creativity and connection. She began her career as a music teacher, spending 22 years fostering student growth through the arts before becoming a classroom teacher to expand her impact. Tammy is certified in PK-12 Music, K-6 Elementary Education, K-12 Administration, and holds both a B.M.E. and M.M. in Vocal Music Performance, as well as an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership.

A Certified Trainer for A Framework for Understanding Poverty and a seasoned arts integration facilitator, Tammy believes that “creativity is growth through personal exploration.” She is driven by the belief that every child and adult deserves opportunities to grow, feel seen, and drive their own path to success.

Tammy’s approach centers on the idea that “I teach life, not content.” Through her work with Arkansas A+, she creates space for students and educators alike to feel empowered, supported, and inspired—especially those who feel “different.” Her commitment to helping students find their voice and success continues to leave a lasting impact across classrooms and communities.
