Petrina Baker – Arkansas A+ Fellow

Petrina Baker is an award-winning educator with over 20 years of experience dedicated to nurturing the whole child through student-centered learning. Currently serving as the elementary media specialist and reading interventionist at Guy-Perkins Elementary, Petrina has also taught Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grades. She holds certifications in Early Childhood Education and Library Media.

Named Teacher of the Year, Petrina is known for her passion for cultivating a love of reading in her students and for her creative, resourceful approach to education. Her philosophy goes beyond academics, focusing on reaching each child’s emotional, intellectual, and personal needs.

Since becoming an Arkansas A+ Fellow, Petrina has embraced the power of arts integration to enhance learning. She believes in the importance of creativity in education, describing it as “being resourceful, clever, and unique.” Her work continues to inspire students and colleagues to learn, grow, and explore in meaningful ways.
